CS Blog Progress
Well, I got my CS site up and working - on my local machine. :D
And then, my FTP program decided to have a very immature and badly-timed hissy fit. It took an hour to upload the files, often quoting 4bytes/sec upload speed. Yes BYTES. It started moaning about files not being uploaded correctly that had spaces in the name.
And then at about 11pm last night it finally finished. Phew.
Except. When I looked at the server there were files everywhere but where they should be. I mean, there were skin folders in the root, the control panel was split up over a dozen folders - it was a mess. Naively I started to delete the folders and get ready to start again.
Big mistake. Pretty obviously, Mr. FTP was still determined to get his knickers in a twist and when I deleted a set of badly positioned folders the files it started listing as deleting were files from my other web sites on that server.
Of course, it was unresponsive as it continued to delete hundreds of files per second.
Task Manager, End process.
So, having now fixed the damage to my other sites I've transferred files to my desktop and will try uploading again from here.
I don't know whether it was a bad wireless connection, my laptop or the FTP program that screwed up but it was pretty scary. I'm kinda used to the computer doing what I ask. Hang up or even BSOD if you want to be petulant, but don't start doing random ***. *sulk*
